PRESIDENT MAHAMA INSPECTS PROGRESS ON OFANKOR–NSAWAM ROAD PROJECT

The President of the Republic, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, accompanied by the Minister of Roads and Highways, the Deputy Minister and officials from the Ministry and its agencies, on Wednesday, 3rd September 2025, paid a working visit to the ongoing Ofankor–Nsawam Road Project.  The purpose of the visit was to ascertain the volume of work done and to interact with project stakeholders.

The Ofankor–Nsawam stretch, which forms part of the Accra–Kumasi Highway, is a critical link for trade and transportation, serving thousands of commuters daily. The reconstruction works aimed at improving ride quality, ease congestion, and enhance safety along the busy corridor.

During the inspection, the President expressed satisfaction with the pace of work and reiterated government’s commitment to delivering quality infrastructure that responds to the needs of the people.

Acknowledging the inconvenience motorists face during construction periods, President Mahama urged the contractor to maintain proper site management in order to improve traffic flow for commuters and residents on that stretch.

“We know you have work to do, but one of your duties is site management, so make sure your work does not impede the flow of traffic. Even while working, you are creating conditions for traffic flow”, he said.

Hon. Kwame Governs Agbodza, on behalf of the Ministry of Roads and Highways expressed gratitude to the president and pledged to continue expediting work to meet scheduled timelines.

Government used the occasion to appeal to commuters and residents along the stretch to exercise patience and cooperate with traffic management arrangements as work progresses.
